Surrendering your cat for re-homing

We at Better Beginning Kitten Rescue understand that making the decision to surrender a pet can be a very difficult and painful choice. We know that this may be your last resort and want to make sure your cat finds the very best home possible. Please review our criteria below prior to submitting your form.

Surrender Criteria

  1.  A vet visit within the last 3 months with a clean bill of health to include a dental check up and signed off by your veterinarian.
  2. Must be up to date on all vaccines (some exceptions may apply).
  3. Cat must be spayed/neutered and microchipped and/or tattooed (some exceptions may apply*).
  4. If the cat or any other cats in the home have outdoor access, bloodwork will be required for FIV/Feline Leukemia and other potential underlining medial issues depending on age of the cat.
  5. A meet by one of our team members prior to surrender form being approved to assess temperament/personality of cat.

Depending on our capacity, it may be required for you to continue to house your cat until we are able to find it a new home. In the event that your cat needs medical care during the re-homing process, it will be the responsibility of the current owner to ensure proper care is provided as well as all medical expenses are covered.

Microchips are to be transferred to BBKR prior to, or on the day of surrender.

All medical records must be released to Better Beginnings Kitten Rescue for review from your veterinarian clinic. Additional information may be required.

*Spay exception if the cat is pregnant
